Celebrating the Grand Opening of Polaris Academy
On July 26, 2024, TLW Construction had the privilege of joining educators, families, community leaders, and local businesses to celebrate the Grand Opening of Polaris Academy in Mesa, Arizona.
Polaris Academy is an innovative K–8 school dedicated to supporting neurodivergent students, with a special focus on learners with autism. The school was thoughtfully designed to provide an inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
A School Designed for Hands-On Learning
One of the academy's most exciting features is its culinary learning lab, where students develop practical life skills while reinforcing academic concepts through real-world experiences.
By preparing recipes and working in a professional-style kitchen, students have the opportunity to strengthen skills in:
Mathematics through measuring and calculations
Reading through recipes and instructions
Science through cooking techniques and experimentation
Communication, teamwork, and independent problem-solving
This hands-on approach helps students build confidence while making learning engaging and meaningful.
TLW Construction's Contribution
TLW Construction was honored to support Polaris Academy's mission by helping create a fully equipped culinary classroom for its students.
Our contribution included:
A complete suite of kitchen appliances
Classroom-ready furniture designed for student learning
A fully functional culinary space that supports hands-on education and life skills development
This new learning environment gives students the opportunity to apply STEM concepts and everyday academic skills in a practical, supportive setting.
